New South Australia tour a foodies delight

Discover some of the best food, wine, gin and beer in picturesque McLaren Vale and visit the spectacular d’Arenberg Cube on the new one-day tour that is sure to delight, all for under $200.

Adelaide Sightseeing’s McLaren Vale & The Cube Experience departs Adelaide every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, commencing on 2nd November 2020.

The McLaren Vale & The Cube Experience will set you back $189 per person and is hosted on a comfortable air-conditioned coach, with expert commentary provided by a local driver/guide.  From tastings to free time there is something to tempt every tastebud on this full day tour.

The first stop is the Stump Hill Cafe for morning tea and an opportunity to sample wines from some of the region’s smaller wineries that do not have their own cellar door. There is also a gift shop and produce store to explore.

Then it is onto the d’Arenberg Cube. Nestled amongst the Mourvèdre vineyards, this five-storey multi-functional “Rubik’s cube” has been designed to give the optical illusion of floating in a vineyard, with each level overlooking the magnificent rolling hills of Willunga. Enjoy a guided tour through the Alternate Realities Museum before indulging in a formal wine tasting on Level 4 and a scrumptious two-course lunch at Polly’s Restaurant.

Then discover the beautiful 70-acre working vineyard of Beresford Estate Wines, for a choice of one of three tastings in their elegant Tasting Pavilion. The Premium Wine Tasting features a selection of wines from their Estate and Limited Release range. The Vale Brewing Tasting offers up to five craft beers from the sessionable Vale range and the final option, the 23rd Street Distillery Tastings, offers a tasting choice from five spirits or three craft gins.

The final cellar door is the newly renovated and stunning Wirra Wirra Vineyards located amongst the gum trees. Enjoy a short tour of the historic ironstone cellars before being guided through a structured tasting of their quality wines.

Finish the day by exploring the main street of McLaren Vale. Visit the many shops and galleries including the famous Almond Train and Menz Fruchocs Shop before heading back to Adelaide.

The McLaren Vale & The Cube Experience operates from 2nd November 2020 every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, departing and returning from/to Adelaide Central Bus Station or selected Adelaide hotels.

The coach tour is priced at $189 per adult and $98 per child and includes morning pick-up and evening set-down at selected Adelaide hotels, expert commentary by local driver/guide, a full day guided small group tour, morning tea, d’Arenberg Cube tour, wine tasting and a two-course lunch, a visit to Beresford Wine Tasting Pavilion for Beer, Wine or Gin tasting, Wirra Wirra Vineyards for wine tasting and free time in the main street of McLaren Vale.

The d’Arenberg Cube officially opened on 14 December 2017 and is a five storey multi-function building set among Mourvèdre vines. The building has the optical illusion of floating in a vineyard, each level with spectacular views overlooking the rolling hills of Willunga. The new tour will include a guided tour through the Alternate Realities museum, wine tasting and a 2-course lunch.
