I recently tested three of their products: the ‘TRTL travel pillow’, the ‘TRTL pillow cool’, and the ‘TRTL pillow plus’. Read on for more information on each model’s unique features, and to hear my thoughts.

TRTL travel pillow

- Differentiating factor: N/A, this is the standard travel pillow in TRTL’s range
- Pros: the fleece material of the standard model is the warmest of the three products
- Cons: I found it slightly more difficult to find a comfortable position with this model than with the other two
TRTL pillow cool
- Price: AUD$104.99
- Weight: 223 grams
- Differentiating factor: this model features cooling fabric, making it perfect for hotter climates
- Pros: the cooling fabric has greater breathability than the standard and plus models
- Cons: The neck support felt a little stiffer than the other models, but those preferring firmer support may consider this a benefit
TRTL pillow plus
- Price: AUD$134.99
- Weight: 254 grams
- Differentiating factor: the main factor which sets the plus model apart is its adjustability, allowing customers to change the height of the pillow to suit their needs
- Pros: this model has superior cushioning compared to the standard and cool models
- Cons: the only drawback of the premium model (beyond the price, but you get what you pay for!) is the limited colour range, with only ‘charcoal’ available at the time of writing compared to seven options for the standard model and eight for the cool pillow
Final thoughts
With no flights on the horizon for another few months (unfortunately), I instead tested these pillows out during a few car trips and some upright naps right at home. The verdict? A perfect, pain-free nap with all three!
As a deep sleeper rarely awakened by my own discomfort, I’m used to waking up sore after spending hours with my neck in an awkward position. However, I had no such problem with any of the TRTL pillows: the unique, strong structure provided by their internal support system across all three models held my head upright without issue.
While I can recommend all three over a traditional travel pillow without hesitation, my clear winner is the TRTL pillow plus. The plus model’s adjustable height and additional padding provides unparalleled comfort, transforming restless long-haul trips into deep sleeps.
