Perched upon Canada’s Lake Lousie in Alberta, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was originally built as a base for outdoor enthusiasts and alpinists over 100 years ago. This history has transformed into the year-round luxury mountain resort it is today while keeping its mountaineering roots. You will even find the Concierge wearing the old mountaineering boots with their uniforms.

Picture-perfect year round, even when frozen in winter, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel looks out over the emerald Lake Louise and is surrounded by soaring mountain peaks, including the majestic Victoria Glacier. Located in Banff National Park, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is recognized for progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism.

Guests can enjoy guided mountain tours, world-class skiing in the winter, scenic hiking and canoe activities in the summer, kid’s camp, a luxury spa, and exceptional dining experiences. Or simply take a walk around the lake or explore the nearby hiking trails.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is world famous for its breathtaking views of Lake Louise and the surrounding Canadian Rocky Mountains. While the property is luxurious and elegant, it is relaxed and inviting. With 539 rooms, the hardest part will be choosing which one to book. Unwind and enjoy the views of the mountains or the lake in the guestrooms, indulge in a luxurious suite or really splash out on the specialty rooms with the experience of exclusivity in Fairmont Gold.

Fairmont and Deluxe Rooms with varying views of mountains or lakeside, as do the suites which include one and two bedrooms. Fairmont Gold rooms include the Lakeview, Junior Suite, One & Two Bedroom Suites and Whitehorn Suite, Tom Wilson Suite, Glacier Suite, Fairview Suite, Marquis de Lorne Suite and Belvedere Suite.

We tried out the One Bedroom Suite with views across to the lake and the mountains. With a living area and even an outdoor terrace, there were views galore to be had. The rooms are spacious and come with all you need to feel you are home away from home. A favourite spot was the sitting chair by the arched windows that got the afternoon sun and looked out across the lake and mountains.

The dining is just as spectacular as the views most of the restaurants look out at. From seasonally inspired menus to dining experiences that will satisfy any craving, there is something for everyone and every occasion. Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise’s restaurants and bars are accessible to registered hotel guests only except for Afternoon Tea, which is available to day visitors to Lake Louise. There is a saying at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise that “calories don’t count in the Rockies”, so you can indulge all you like during your stay.

The Fairview Bar & Restaurant overlooks the stunning Lake Louise and offers a reflection of the world beyond its windows. Here you can indulge in a seasonal-inspired menu or grab a drink and watch the world go by. Walliser Stube has a friendly and intimate atmosphere with gorgeous dark wood furnishings and big views. A must here is to try the deliciously gooey traditional cheese fondue. The property’s iconic Lakeview Lounge serves up just that, glorious views over Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier, and of course, the delicious food as a side isn’t bad either.

Alpine Social is inspired by the glory days of Canadian mountaineering. This main restaurant is the place to meet, eat and celebrate. If you’re looking for hearty comfort food, you’ve found it, with artisan, locally grown, alpine-inspired food and it tastes even better at 5,680 feet. For a quick snack, coffee or bite to eat, visit The Guide’s Pantry, a deli-style outlet that has a mix of menu items from cold sandwiches, salads and snacks for a grab-and-go bite before you start your daily adventure.

No matter what room you book, you will have a gorgeous view. Do try the Afternoon Tea or if you are really adventurous, head up to the Tea House. The hike to the Tea House starts on the shores of Lake Louise near the Fairmont Chateau Hotel and climbs uphill on a wide switch-backed path for around 3.6 kms.
