The Tourism Authority of Chile recently released research showing that tourism is steadily increasing in Chile, especially with visitors from Australia.
Chile is a country filled with adventure, natural beauty, great food and wine, an exciting culture, with so much variety and diverse landscapes as well as warmth and hospitality shown by the locals. These are the welcoming factors resulting in a rise in the percentage of international visitors the country, especially Australians.
Chile has just reported its best year ever for its tourism industry, with a 26% increase in international arrivals from 2015. Amidst this total, Australian visitor numbers were up by 10.8% in 2016, reaching 50,968 which is the highest visitor total country has received from Australia.
The Chile Tourism industry is projected to see a further 14% increase in international numbers for 2017, with Australian numbers expected to grow by 10%. With a new direct flight available from Melbourne to Santiago, Chile is more accessible to Australians than ever before.
With beautiful destinations such as the amazingly beautiful city of Santiago, the Atacama Desert in the North, the fjords of Tierra del Fuego in southern Patagonia, and Torres del Paine National Park, it is no wonder that the country recently won the title of “South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination” at the 2016 World Travel Awards.
